Bomber Command Memorial
Located on the corner of Green Park, this is an outstanding piece of work which now acts as a new access into the park. The memorial is very fitting as it complements the Wellington Arch on Hyde Park corner. The memorial was designed by Liam O’Connor and was unveiled in 2012 by Queen Elizabeth II.
S McConnell & Sons manufactured, processed and built the memorial. The company also quarried the grey Mourne granite which was then manufactured for the surrounding footpaths and steps. Twelve large Portland Stone doric columns were produced and are located to lead the visitor into a large open space where there is a beautiful red porphyry plinth.
This is a project that our team will always be proud to have been associated with.
